Hello,

a client is setting up a MultiSite for a school-project to provide simple Homepage-Features such as

- Blog for Text
- Download-Directory for Filesharing
- Photo-Gallery

Each student will setup his own WP-Site within the network (as subdomain like studentname.sitedomain.tld), where a preset of plugins empowers him to use these features on his own independent site.

Since the "Blog" Feature is of course provided by WP itself, the other two features "Downloads" & "Gallery" are not so easy to setup with standard WP-Feature-Set, because of the clients requirements:

General features:
[*]each student receives his own ftp-access for his personal directory (this could be inside /uploads)
[*]images, files & folders being uploaded via ftp should be available inside in site-specific WP-media

[b]Downloads
features:

  • files can be sorted in folders like a directory (in wp-dashboard)
  • files & folders can be navigated like in a directory (on wp-frontpage)
  • files can be downloaded (with a download-button)

Gallery features:

  • images can be opened in lightbox-gallery
  • images and/or galleries can be commented

I wonder if WP-Media-Folder (and maybe even WP-File-Download) could help the client to achieve this?

Thank you and kind regards,
Sascha

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
Let me try to answer your requirements.

1. General features:

- This feature seems impossible now with our both plugins.
- In this situation, your students who can upload directly files to their own site, dont need to import via ftp.

2. Download features:

- Yes, you can order files in WP File download dashboard.
- We have 4 themes to display files and folders in front end, for more details you can see here
- Of course, download button will be shown in frontend. Moreover, you can also disable download button and activate preview only. You can see default theme for example.

3. Gallery features:

- Yes, WP Media Folder can create gallery to view images in lightbox. You can see our demo.
- Commenting in gallery/image feature is not implemented yet.

Hope it helps!
Cheers,
