Can you describe how WP Media Folder works in WordPress Multisite? Can all the settings be hidden from sub-site admins, can individual sub-site media files be cleared from the server and only served from an Amazon S3 bucket, does the superadmin have total control of media files on the network, can you give individual sites control over all media handling.
Complete description of features in this scenario appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
Can you describe how WP Media Folder works in WordPress Multisite?

Let me try to respond your questions in order.
Can all the settings be hidden from sub-site admins

No, each sub-site has its settings.
can individual sub-site media files be cleared from the server and only served from an Amazon S3 bucket

Yes, you can offload your server by using Amazon S3.
does the superadmin have total control of media files on the network, can you give individual sites control over all media handling.

Our plugin does not intervene in any WP roles. It just creates virtual folders to manage your media easier.

Hope it helps!

The reason I ask is because plugins vary in how they work in Multisite. Some let you hide menus from the subsite admins, others allow everything by default and the superadmin has no control. Some you network activate and it's the same for all subsites, others let you give different sites different tools and settings. Some put the superadmin controls in the network admin area where they belong, others put them on the main site so the subsites just inherit those settings. So I was looking for a tutorial or something for the multisite scenario. The plugin looks very cool, but for me it would be important to be able to enable it only for some sites while disabled or hidden by default.

Offload to S3 is good, but I'd like to know if the superadmin has control over individual subsites, to upload its media files to S3 and clear them from the server.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me with your compliment.

Yes, could you give me the plugin has that settings for multisite? So we can refer it easier.
It's so helpful for us to save time for checking and making a plan.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Well there are hundreds of plugins that are designed to work with Multisite. One example, a competing plugin to yours as I'm sure you're aware, is WP Offload Media. It can be Network Activated and then the superadmin has a special page under the Settings menu in the Network Admin area, which is how it should be done.

I don't know if it has a choice to activate per site vs Network Activate, but having both options is good. If Network Activated, it should be possible to disable it on an individual site basis, if not, activation per site should be available.

As the Superadmin I can access the media controls (plugin functionality) on any subsite, and hide or show options and controls for the site admin.

So it's all about the control I have over the network and the individual sites. I want to be able to allow access for sites that pay a premium fee.

My two questions then about WP Media Folder are: What controls does the superadmin have over the network and where are they in the control panel, and how granular is that control i.e. can you give individual subsites access to functionality or is it the same for all sites.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me with more information.

Our plugin does not include Network settings as WP Offload Media at the moment.
What controls does the superadmin have over the network and where are they in the control panel, and how granular is that control i.e. can you give individual subsites access to functionality or is it the same for all sites.

As I said above, our plugin does not have Network settings. Each sub-sites has its settings.
If you are an admin, you can go to the settings in each sub-sites.
Anyway, we noted that in our planning list.

Hope you understand!
Cheers,
