Hello everybody, I try to protect video and audio files inside my Learndash system. I want to host the files in my media library (I already use WP media folder). So the question is: Can I embed videos using the Divi Builder and only give access to logged in users. Means at the same time, that the direct file URL cannot be openend when a user is not logged in. The video should be seen as a normal video on the website and not only a download link. Is that possible? Thanks in advance :)

Hi there,

WP Media Folder doesn't have a real access check that would prevent downloading unauthorized users to download the file.

While WP File Download does, you can set permissions by user groups or users.
Please have a look to this page for more details: https://www.joomunited.com/wordpress-products/wp-file-download/wp-file-download-file-access-management or directly the documentation page here https://www.joomunited.com/wordpress-documentation/wp-file-download/225-wp-file-download-files-and-categories#toc-7-file-access-and-management-limitation

Best regards
D
About embedding the video inside the content, unfortunately we don't have such feature.
But we have a previewer which should open the file like here https://www.joomunited.com/wordpress-demo/wp-file-download-default-theme/

Hi Damien, thanks for your quick reply. Does that mean, that I cannot protect files in the media library with WP File Download? Does it create a own "library" which can only be used for the default view as you have sent me here? https://www.joomunited.com/wordpress-demo/wp-file-download-default-theme/ Are you planing to integrate functions, that will protect the media library (for which I use WP media folder)?! Thanks :)

Yes, that's correct WP File Download doesn't use the WordPress media library, therefore not WP Media Folder media.
But with WP File Download you can easily protect your files from download with several advanced rules and include them in a LMS content.

Cheers,

Unfortunately this is a limitation in the WordPress media manager, files can't be protected.
And because of that we won't add this feature :/

That's why we have created WP File Download with its own library, it does all what you can't do through the media library and more ;)
