Hi, I use google drive folders for students lesson audio, sheets etc. standalone, currently with no connection to joomla site. Each student can only see info in their own folder. I would ideally like to have them see these files from within joomla site rather than standalone.

is it possible to assign a particular GD folder to a joomla user. Im happy to keep uploading the audio and files direct to google D; I would just prefer them to log into Joomla and click on their 'folder' and keep it within the joomla environment.

Can this be achieved with dropfiles?

Many thanks, Ben

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
is it possible to assign a particular GD folder to a joomla user.

Yes, Dropfiles can sync data with Google drive, for more details: https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/dropfiles-documentation#toc-v-google-drive-integration
And certainly, you can set permission for your student to access those folders, for more details:https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/dropfiles-documentation#toc-3-3-acl-permission

Hope it helps!

If I may ask a more specific question on this topic. Your link describes group permissions very well. However, I would like to ask if I can use this system to grant permissions to certain users to certain folders in Dropbox or GDrive? For example:

User1 access only to Dropbox Folder1
User2 access only to Dropbox Folder2
Etc., etc.

Thank you.

Hi,

Sure, you can restrict by using Single user access parametter.

So I've setup the Dropbox sync and it sees all my Dropbox folders. However, it looks like I have to restrict users by choosing a file rather than a directory. I really hope I'm missing something because with thousands of files in dozens of directories that would be impractical.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

First, you need to enable Single user restriction in Options > Main Parameters (see an attached file). Then, you will see Single user access on the right panel of Dropfiles inteface. You can see here: https://www.joomunited.com/images/com_droppics/186/single-file-user.png
If you still dont find anything, please drop us a ticket (menu Support > Ticket support). The developer in charge will take a look at that.

Hope it helps!
Regards,
