Hi there.
I am currently building new web site. Current one is too old (J1.5) and is using old version of jDownloads (1.4.2).
And i have some questions:

Is it possible to migrate my categories and files from old site with jDownloads to the new one with Dropfiles ?

Is there any limitation of how many categories, sub categories and files there are? In my current site there are like 20main categories, but some of them have sub categories etc. Only one person(me) is doing the uploads.
Example:
- Category 4
|_ Sub category (with 15 files)
|_ Sub category (with 43 files)
........
- Category 7
|_ Sub category 1 (with 3 sub sub categories and 3files)
|_ Sub sub category 1 (with 32 files)
|_ Sub sub category 2 (with 21 files)
|_ Sub sub category 3 (with 2 sub sub subcategories and 13 files)
|_ Sub sub sub category 1 (16 files)
|_ Sub sub sub category 2 (3 files)
|_ Sub category 2 (with 17 files)
..........
- Category 14 (4 sub categories with their sub sub categories and some files)
|_ Sub category 1 (with 23 files)
|_ Sub category 2
|_ Sub sub category 1 (with 13 files)
|_ Sub sub sub category 1
|_ Sub sub sub sub category 1 ( 32 files)
|_ Sub sub sub sub category 2 ( 12 files)
|_ Sub sub sub category 2 (43 files)
|_ Sub sub category 2 (with 5 files)
|_ Sub category 3 ( 17 files)
|_ Sub category 4 ......

How the component handles thousands of files, categories and their sub categories? Lags, crashes?

There is back-end uploading, not only front-end?

Bulgarian language? I think i can do the translation if the component can satisfy my needs.

Best regards.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
I am currently building new web site. Current one is too old (J1.5) and is using old version of jDownloads (1.4.2).

You can import data from jDownloads but on a site only. And Dropfiles support J3.x currently.
So, I thinks it could not immigrate your files to the new site.

Hope it helps!

Hi again and thanks for replying.

I was almost 100% sure that it wont be possible to migrate it.. but had to ask ;). Importing files and folders will be the way to restore the old structure.

What about other questions - second, third and forth one? Last one is not important.

Best regards.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.
How the component handles thousands of files, categories and their sub categories? Lags, crashes?

It should work, but it depends on many factors such as: bandwidth of your server, internet connection, your PC specification,...
There is back-end uploading, not only front-end?

You can upload files to predefined category on frontend. For more information: https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/dropfiles-documentation#toc-4-4-frontend-file-management
Bulgarian language? I think i can do the translation if the component can satisfy my needs.

We have Russian language available, if it does help you much, you can override languages in Settings.

Hope it helps!
Cheers,
