- SubCatA4
- Category B

Each clients can see only the files owned. in addiction my client need to share, only with me, me files.

is there a limit of numbers of categories or users to setup?
is it possibile to assign category visibility only a specific user? ... In this way i can upload file in the category and this file will be visibile only to a specific user with no additional setting.

Real good news, everything seems to be what I want.

I have docman with more than 200 users and for each user I have the categories as shown in the previous message, this approach is to facilitate uploading the file to a specific user. I upload the file to the category and automatically the file is only visible to a specific user, without further action required.

The problem is the performance, more categories slows down the frontend browsing.

Drop file has the same problem??

Can i import categories and file with the same setting of visibility? For me is very importan to have the same visibility owner, to avoid the visibility of a file to other users.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Categories and files will not be loaded before you scroll down. So I think it could improve significantly the loading speed.
Can i import categories and file with the same setting of visibility? For me is very importan to have the same visibility owner, to avoid the visibility of a file to other users.

You can import categories and files but the settings of visibility. You need to config manually.

Hope it helps!

Many thanks for the quickly replay.

Regarding the the performance i have with Docman is user side. In particular the great numbers of categories and files impact of speed of browsing category by user in the front-end of our site. In this case the user need to many time to find the document for the download.

The number of categories impact also the performance of your product?

Sorry only now i understood your answer...all it's ok.

I have still one question before to buy the product (SORRY):

if categoryA setting has USERA as owner/viewer, the USERB can see the categoryA folder but not the files contained or USERB can't be see the folder of categoryA?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.
The number of categories impact also the performance of your product?

As I know the performance depends on many factors such as: your pc speed, server side, internet bandwidth, ...
if categoryA setting has USERA as owner/viewer, the USERB can see the categoryA folder but not the files contained or USERB can't be see the folder of categoryA?

User B cannot see the categoryA and its files
If categoryA has child folders, User B can see category A but not its files. But he can see those childs and those files inside if he has permission.

Hope it helps!
Cheers,
