File Download plugin can create file version manually not automatically.

It's possible to get a demo version to test the versioning system?

I'm sorry we don't have any trial/limited version as our plugin are open source.
But, if you encounter any trouble of compatibility, the developer in charge can fix that for you or we can refund you.

Currently there is an automatic file versioning but only for admin in order to restore old file version: https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/wp-file-download-documentation#toc-2-4-update-a-file

Well, the process is simple.
They create a contract proposal for some new client, this file start with name per example: "B-1_proposal.doc", this proposal goes to the client for review to accept or send it back with some suggestions of changes.
Normally needs some changes, when that happens, they made the changes and rename to "B-2_proposal.doc" and so on. Sometimes reaches 150 versions easily.
We need some kind of file management that allows us to create a custom version name with auto-incremental number.

We'll think about for a future version as our roadmap is already quite busy
