Replacing WP media library / uploading image without importing

Can this product effectively replace the media library in terms of storage?

I'm looking for a plugin that links to google drive, so google are hosting the images and rather than importing the files to wordpress, they are simply linked - maybe with a virtual url for example. Then the images can be selected in the normal way, eg a featured image.

I found one free plugin that did this but it only worked for Admins but I want to enable other roles to access these files.
