In 2020, not alle google drive "variants" were supported. Are there still any restriction with synchronizing via Google Drive?

I'm not sure what do you mean Google Drive "variants" here. Our plugin supports connecting Google Drive only presently.
By the way, the feature "Implement Google Team Drives" feature has been planned to be released in version 4.7.
