Hello, I will use WP File Download as Educational document sharing for students and your plugin is the most suitable for that purpose.

What i like the most :

  • pdf and doc preview option
  • Categories system
  • file tree structure

What i am confused about :

  • I have more than 200000 files and that consumes the bandwidth for my hosting, so i would like to set download links automatically to google drive and if possible add mirrors to others (box, dropbox, onedrive) even the preview i would like to serve it from external cloud.

Best Regards

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us.
It seems WP FIle Download has all the features you're looking into.

Just some notes about what you've mentioned. Yes, you can manage 200K docs, you'll just need a solid server and database, even hosted on Google Drive because the synchronization will be massive. The preview can be done using either Google Drive or the JoomUnited previewer.

Thanks for replying, I have looked around on the documentation, but i did not find the option to serve downloads externally from Google Drive or another cloud like amazon s3
i tried your demo and when I click download it downloads from the local website instead.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me with more information.

Amazon S3 has not supported in WP File Download plugin currently. The cloud files (Google Drive) can be downloaded as the local ones.
But the link of cloud files would be this form: {domain-site}/download/12/{cloud-folder-name}/1arK0-t5S9ddNZzSxiEROa6jdIBPh8paZ/{file-name}

Hope this helps!

I can mount wp-content or uploads folder to s3 drive using s3fs in our server then point the folder to the subdomain cdn.ourdomain.com with the help of cloudfront.
Is there a way to edit the plugin to make it point download links to cdn.ourdomain.com/download/ instead of ourdomain.com/download/ ?

Thanks in advance.

Due to our working manner in our plugin, it's not possible.

Thanks a lot!
