I am building a private convention website where only registered users can log in to view the contents of the site. I was given a request to have a page where users can share their policy documents with each other. So they would be able to upload and download files on the page so they can share with each other without me having to manage this manually.

Can WP File Download make this happen? Is there a tutorial or demo that can show me this?

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.

Yes, you can restrict registered users who can view and download files.
However, users can upload files to a predefined category currently on frontend.

Please go here for more information:

Hope it helps!

Thank you. Does the user roles let subscribers upload and manage? I saw Administrators, Editors, and Authors but not subscribers.

OK. So I see I can select any level of user. Got it. The really big question I have is I want a page with multiple categories of documents showing. Then I would like a user to not only upload a document, but get to choose which category it should go on. I don't see a way to make an upload shortcode without having to predefine the category.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi itskev,

Thanks for getting back to me with more information.

Yes, you have to select a pre-defined category at backend for the upload form shortcode currently.
In the future version 5.2, we've planned to implement the feature: "Upload form for all category".
That means users can navigate and upload files to the categories they have right to access.

Hope it helps!

Hi, I agree with "itskev" it would be really great if users could choose a category on frontend upload :)
