Hi, I just want to make sure this plugin fits my purposes.

What I need is to offer a place where my clients can download some files that are specific to them. They would need to login to a private user area where all the material designed to them is available for download. Is that possible? Also, could they upload files as well instead of just downloading?

Yes, you can set an area for users to download and upload files on frontend.
In your case, you can insert short code of a category and upload form in a post/page.
