Hi everybody,

I think about using Glossary for tooltips on my website. But I only want to publish the tooltips, not the glossary itself.
In your demo, all words are linked to the glossary-item. Is there a way to change the link?

An example:

When I use the word "Acrobat Reader", I want to have a tooltip that shortly explains it, but the link should direct to Adobe, not to the glossary-Item. Do you understand what I mean? I want to manualy define in the glossary, where the link should point to and if it should open a new window.

Is this possible?

All the best, Julian!

Hi Julian,

It's not possible to add custom links on words, but you havean option to disable the link to the glossary view (keep only tooltip definition without the glossary view).
An option would be to add your links in the tooltip text. Tooltip in content is from editor and render HTML on frontend.

Cheers,

Hi Tristan,

sorry for my late reply. I am sure I will use SEL Glossary in future, even if it does not 100% fit my needs. It is still the best glossary-component out there. ;-)

However, I would like to suggest to think about the ability of linking words to other targets then the definitions. The reason is simple:

a) If I like to give linkage (SEO) to a page, it would be a usefull strategy to use SEO glossary with that kind of linkage. Imagine, I like to improve a subpage for the term "car". I simply can place "car" in the glossary and instantly all Joomla-pages have deep-links to the subpage with the target-key.

b) I like to "sell keywords". Imagine, one of my partners is selling flowers. So I can offer him that he can buy the term "flowers" in my glossary, and automatically all "flower"s on my website are linked to him.

c) When I only have a few real explanations, I might like to link for Wikipedia, which has much larger explanations. That is much quicker then the need of creating all explanations myself.

So it is not only the fact, that I don´t really like the glossary-pages itself. The much more interesting thing is the gained flexibility. And I think, it will not be a too large feature, to add this ability.

Are there any plans for the future?
Maybe it could be a really interesting addon, if users could "buy" glossary-terms automatically like in an ad-extension.
;-)

All the best, Julian!

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback and your review.
We have planned to add the custom links to override SEO Glossary definition link.

For the rest it looks like very particular features.

thanks!
