We use K2 for large tourism directory websites. Currently we use DM K2 Maps (Quirky Fox Labs) but that developer is nonresponsive. We use K2 extra fields to store the street address for each listing. I am looking for a map extension that will geocode each K2 item using extra fields and then display a map for each item.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
We use K2 extra fields to store the street address for each listing. I am looking for a map extension that will geocode each K2 item using extra fields and then display a map for each item.

This feature is not implemented yet, but we can create a custom version for you.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for your reply.

We would only be interested in a custom version only if it would be added to the core feature set of your extension. I don't want to run a fork of an extension that won't update. In other words we would be happy to pay to add functionality to your extension depending on cost and how well it works.

Here is a basic example of how we use DM K2 Maps. https://www.visitnorthwestillinois.com/lodging/cabins-cottages/white-pines-inn-cabins.html

For each k2 item in this website we have 4 extra fields that contain the address data that DM K2 Maps uses for geocoding with Google. Street, city, state, and zipcode. In DM K2 Maps I specify the k2 extra field ids for these 4 fields. I also tell DM K2 Maps what category (recursive) is to be geocoded.

In the backend, when I go to the DM K2 Maps admin area, it runs a check and tells me how many items are not geocoded. I can then click a button to geocode the item that are missing coordinates. The admin user experience for DM K2 Maps is awkward .

We do sometimes run Map summary displays which is something your extension seems to really excel at.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks
Jack
