Hi, what about the data privacy / GDPR compliance of this extension... Are the complete IP adresses of the users stored, and if so - where? Can I disable google maps completely and just use open street map?
Thanks in advance!

hi,
You can completely disable the google map and use open street map.
Generally gdpr can be followed by extension available in joomla
https://extensions.joomla.org/tags/gdpr/
if you like my map location will cover any specific feature for gdpr please let us know so we can cover that in next version.

Hi, indeed as it is now My Maps location does not comply to the GDPR law, it loads scripts and allows Google to gather data.
I've tried purchasing GDPR extension from Jextensions and displaying a placeholder until the user allows it to be displayed, but it shows only a white space... I'll try to debug asking the support.
The right way to use it should be this one: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/jmg-google-maps-dsgvo/
but I don't think it works with your extension...

Hi, guess what? I've contacted GDPR Jextension's support and they gave me the solution using their extension, I think you can share it with your customers (please look at the attachment):

to display a placeholder for My maps of Joomunited you need the following configuration.

It's showing a placeholder for a blocked div having class 'map_canvas'-

I agree it would be better if it's integrated with your extension, but at least it's a working and easy solution.

Best regards,
Guido
