Can number of downloads be show in single file layout?

I have been using docman for some time and considering switching to Dropfiles. My questions are:

1) Can number of downloads for a file be shown in single file layout in an article?
2) I have URL rewrite switch on in my Joomla configuration. I saw in post from August last year that dropfiles will not work with this switch on. Is this true?
3) Can Dropfiles use custom fields?

These feature are not implemented yet in our Dropfiles currently.

3) Can Dropfiles use custom fields?

Yes, we have tested with DropEditor, TinyMCE and it works well.
Which editor are you using now?

I am using JCE editor but can use TinyMCE.

For displaying the number of hits in single file layout, could this be done easily with a override?

I was reading in Joomla Magazine in an article about custom fields, that Joomla recommends have URL rewriting on. I have had it on for years.
