Hi there

I've just installed your free META SEO as I thought it was easier and user friendly than SEO YOAST. I've noticed thought I do not have the google analytics installed on my wordpress. Do you have any recommendations for which google analytics plugin i should use compatible with your Meta SEO?

thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback! This is something we have planned to add in a future major version, the analytics tracking and statistics :D
For now I personaly use this one (only for the tracking): https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-google-analytics-tracking/

Hi Tristan,

just installed WP Meta SEO to check it out.
I want to replace Yoast for some sites.
Looks very promimising. :)
Especially the Option to bulk.edit metas.

But:

1
Since this thread was started in June 2016, I guess there are changes in META SEO.
If I enable Tracking Settings there is:

<!-- BEGIN WPMSGA v3.2.2 Universal Tracking - https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-meta-seo/ -->

Usually I use some other JS, because I load analytics.js async.
Unfortunately there is no option to disable the tracking code on the site and just look at the Analytics data.
(I like this feature, too).
If I enable first and then disable tracking I still get the Analytics data, so this is a workaround.

2
Link editor tool.
The broken links tool shows 404 Errors for valid hashmark links.

<a href="#jump-to-this-section">linktext</a>

Reindexing solved this.

Also, there is some encoding issue.
Link title is: Wikipedia: Erlös Zweitpreisauktion
Link title is shown as: Wikipedia: Erlös Zweitpreisauktion

Some link titles are not shown at all.
:(

There is no option to set the <title>!
Just <meta name="title" ... and <meta property="og:title" ...

The title is always like <title of the page> dash <title of the website>
No way to change this. Yoast allows variables to change the title.
Show stopper. Important.

Permalink settings. Hmm. Recommended:
It’s better using a permalink structure that is adding in your URL the category name and content title. This parameter can be changed in Settings > Permalinks WordPress menu. Tag recommended is %category%/%postname%

And if I use just %postname%, because it is a small site, I allways will be stuck at 50%?
:(

5
404 & Redirects.
Hashmark link is shown as 404 with:

/%postname%//#jump-to-this-section

Same for a tel-link:

/%postname%//tel:+493050564779

Hi,

Does it happens only on one image? Is this image used in different post/page?

Hi Tristan,

thank you for the fast reply.
Answers: No, almost evry picture
No., just one one.

Only pictures without alt-tag have a proper score.

Yes OK got it, found the bug, I'll report it now and we'll provide a fix.

About your previous post:
1. Yes I see, this could be a good idea, I'll keep that in mind
2. We'll check that, for encoding too
3. Yes there's the field maybe it's not properly generated in your HTML?
4. Yep sorry. Well it's just a recommendation :)
5. OK thanks for reporting!

We'll work on that and push a new version.

Hi Tristan,

thank you again for the quick answer.

I can wait with 1. 2. 5. If you fix this later...
;)

But as for 3. - nope.

The HTML shoes:
<title>Was kostet Werbung bei Google? - #semanticmarketing</title>
<meta name="title" content="Was kostet Werbung bei Google? #semanticmarketing">
<meta property="og:title" content="Was kostet Werbung bei Google? #semanticmarketing">

As you can see in the <title> there is a dash (-) Why?
See also attached SERP and Content META Screenshots.

Even if I leave the <title> in most cases as something like %postname% %seperator% %sitetitle%
I need a way to set another title. I do not see how I can do this in your tool.

And 4? Hmmm. This is not secondary!

The main idea behind showing achievement in diagrams and % is to show the user where to go next and what to do. Should make life easier.
If I see 50% I want to optimize.
But in your tool I allways have to keep in mind, this is not real. I did my homework, but the teacher does not see it. This way I have to think to much. There should be some way to avoid this. Maybe just a checkbox, [ ] finished or something.

For a while I used Onpage.org. Same thing. I open the site and get recommendations I do not want. It just blocks my attention and prevent me from doing the important stuff.

Same problem and last idea for today: the Link Editor shows for "nofollow" a yellow attention-sign. It should be a X or something that indicates this is not a Follow-link. With the attention-sign I think there must be something to do or to fix.

Have a nice day,
Markus

Hi Tristan,

another issue. Even with setting HTML Sitemap display = 1 column the resulting css narrows the width to 33%.

<div id="wpms_sitemap" class="columns_1">
<div class="wpms_column wpms_column_1" style="width:33%;float:left;">
<div id="sitemap_posts" class="wpms_sitemap_posts" style="min-height: 174px;">

Suggested setting could be: 1 column 100% - 2 column 50% - 3 column 33%.

Best regards,
Markus
