Hi,

Thanks for adding your feature request here.
Add an option to show/hide a duplicate link in the File column of the list view of the media gallery. This will allow for faster copying of files.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Could you explain more details about your request?

Cheers,
W
There are some plugins that add an option to the action links in the file column for cloning/copying/duplicating a post/page/media item. So it would look something like the attached image. Not only would this make it easier to copy media items, it would also help with another enhancement request I submitted recently. As far as I can tell, you can only access the duplicate media item link when open an item from the grid view. There's not an option to duplicate a file when you open it from the list view. Our users won't know to go to grid view, open the file, and then duplicate it.

Hi,

Thanks for your message.
Our users won't know to go to grid view, open the file, and then duplicate it.

You can see the option when right clicking on the image in the Grid View.
Those are not implemented in the List View yet.

Cheers,
W
Yes - the enhancement request is to add this option in the list view as well. Whether it's via a right click or a text link in the action links for a file, it would be nice to have the options in the list view as well ;)

Any progress on this request? There's not an easy way to use the WP Media Folder duplicate feature for an image unless you're in the Grid view. When you're in the list view or in the Edit Media screen, there's no duplicate image option. While users could be taught to switch to the Grid view first, this isn't a great user experience. It also limits how you can filter and sort images before trying to duplicate them. An example is when you might have several images that look identical, but may be different resolutions or have different metadata. With the list view, you can easily identify which one you'd like to copy while the grid view doesn't allow details about the images. Attached are some screenshots of where the duplicate link would go (metabox on the Edit Images screen and as an action link in the List view).

Thanks for considering this improvement.

We've planned to release the feature "Replace and Duplicate actions in the List view" in version 5.4.
I know this feature is necessary for you but a bunch of attractive features are waiting for us.

Thanks a lot!
Kind regards,
W
Glad to hear it's on the roadmap. If you're looking at adding a "replace" feature as well, it would be great if you matched the functionality of the "Enable Media Replace" plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/. It looks like that plugin as about 500K installs, so you could just integrate with it as well as an alternative.

Thanks
W
Checking back on the status of this.
