1. I cannot see the map because there is no SSL certificate because this is just a temporarily domain. What to do?

Yes, you need to purchase SSL certificate to use Geolocate feature. User location is private property so Google require https to run that. More information here.
We have an option in Configuration, so you can disable Geolocation.

2. how can I have the frontend in German instead of in English?

Our extension is integrated translation tool so you can override your language there.

3. is it possible to have the search result in the sidebar and the map in the content container?
