In Joomla tags are managed under Components -- > Tags
Dropfiles uses the same feature.
If you trash a Joomla tag that was in use at the moment of deletion not only the tag goes to the dustbin but the tag will also be removed from all the articles that did use the tag.
Deleting a "dropfiles tag" will not result in the removal of the tag from the files.

The search option of Dropfiles offers several filter options.
Thy are used for an AND-relation instead of an OR relation.

Would be nice to have an additional checkbox giving the opportunity to chose either of them.

Hi,

Yes the tags are managed though Joomla tags. It's really more efficient and light that a separated system. Unfortunately, if the same tag are in use in Joomla articles make sure it's not used anywhere else. To handling that I recommend to use a Root tag for Joomla and one for Dropfiles.
Removing the tag from Dropfiles does not remove the tags from the database indeed, so we keep tag suggestion when a user type a tag.

#2 that would be a good option indeed.

Cheers,
