It would be a great feature to add feature like OSDownloads:

https://www.joomlashack.com/joomla-extensions/osdownloads/

This would allow users to download the file by using just an email address which would allow the owner of the site to track the downloads and be able to reach out to the end user to see if there is anything else they can help with.

This is the first time we hear about this request. It takes time to check and study about this feature.
Anyway, we noted that in our planning list. The new design for stats will be implemented in the future version, by the way.
