Variables in states

I want to display a USA map showing state outlines. Then have a filled circle (or whatever) that varies in size based on the number of units in the state, For example, if Vermont had two items, there would be a small circle in the state. Then if Ohio had six, it what be a bigger circle, and if New York had 12, even bigger. Can My Maps do something like this? Thanks
