Is there already a connection from Filedownload to Nextcloud? And is it possible to automatically turn every file / photo into a WooCommerce product?

Initial situation: I have approx. 300,000 (high-resolution) photos (3 TB) in a DAM system and then move them to a Nextcloud server. I am looking for a way to sell photo downloads. The files should remain on the Nextcloud server. When someone downloads a photo, they should receive it from the Nextcloud server via WooCommerce. WooCommerce offers this by specifying the download link. But I need it to be automatic. So that a product is automatically created from each photo, the IPTC data should be read out as a product description. Perhaps this can be done via CSV import?

Another requirement would be the photo thumbnails. Perhaps the Media Folder is the right plugin for this? I need thumbnails of all photos to design the WooCommerce products. These should then be stored in the WordPress installation. Can this be done automatically?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.

This is something we have planned for a future Addon release: version 4.8 (we are currently in version 4.6.3).

The WP File Download plugin does not have the capability to generate products automatically from files.

The functionality of selecting a random image from a folder in the WP Media Folder plugin is limited to posts and does not extend to products in WooCommerce.

Thanks for the answer. Even if WP FIle Download cannot automatically create products in WordPress, I could solve this myself via a CSV import. All I need is the link to the original download file in the Nextcloud installation and the path to the preview generated by Nextcloud.

Is this information stored in the WordPress database of WP File Download so that I can retrieve it and use it for the CSV mass import?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me with more information.

As the file URL from the cloud server is not stored in the database, it is not feasible to obtain the link.

Is this information stored in the WordPress database of WP File Download so that I can retrieve it and use it for the CSV mass import?

Integration with NextCloud and other cloud services does not involve storing the actual file data in the WP Database.
Instead, only the category ID of the files is stored in the database.

Cheers,
