Hi!

Your plugin looks very promissing! Just a few questions:

1. Are the files secured so nobody even when someone knows the path & filename (or url) can get the file without logging in?
2. Is it possible to setup the path were all files are stored? (e.x.: .../wp-content/intranet/)
3. Can the files be separated from the default WP media library? (I don´t want them to be listed there)
4. Do the users need to have access to the WP-Admin to use the functions? Background: I´m planning building an intranet with different features. The users log in and get different features by user role. But everything is build for the frontend so they don´t need the WP backend - they are not admins or techies so everything should be as simple as it can be. They should be able to upload and download (limited by user role) + add new versions of files that are already in the library.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.
1. Are the files secured so nobody even when someone knows the path & filename (or url) can get the file without logging in?

Yes, they are because WP File Download will check who can download the files. User can download files if those are displayed in public. For more details: https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/wp-file-download-documentation#toc-file-access
2. Is it possible to setup the path were all files are stored? (e.x.: .../wp-content/intranet/)

Sorry, it is something presently impossible.
3. Can the files be separated from the default WP media library? (I don´t want them to be listed there)

Yes, of course.
4. Do the users need to have access to the WP-Admin to use the functions?

Yes, User role is set by admin for users to manage all categories or their own ones. You can see here:
https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/wp-file-download-documentation#toc-manage-personal-user-file-repository

In frontend, download feature is already in our plugin if users have privilege. Upload feature will be added in the next version 3.9.

Hope it helps!

Hello, thanks for answering my questions!

Because the upload in frontend is an important feature for me: Do you have a timing for the next version 3.9. - I think it might be better to wait for this then.

Hi,

We are currently in version 3.6.2. Though it’s hard to give a precise date on new features release for various reasons.
It mainly depends on the development roadmap we've defined for the developer and problems we may encounter during this period :)

Cheers,
T
Well 3-4 month seems reasonable :)
