Private Cloud Hosting, Bandwith?

Using other cloud server or my own private server hosted on other location.
Can I use other customized cloud server hosting like DigitalOcean etc?

The external account you can connect is the cloud accounts mentioned only (DropBox and Google Drive + OneDrive soon). If your website is hosted on Digital ocean of course you'll use digital ocean storage.

Yes that's possible to use the server where the extension is installed and Dropbox and Google Drive

Bandwith issue? If files are hosted on other server like Dropbox, Can downloading or uploading be counted in my webhosting or just DropBox bandwith will be affected?

Yes it will affect only Dropbox and Google Drive bandwidth.

Thanks for quick reply. It really helps customers like me to quick understand the features of your great extension.

I just wanted to know, for example, if I host website with Dropfile extension on A server, can I host my file on B server. Both A & B servers are provided by different VPS/Could storage provider. In this case, I assume that the developer as you need to create a customised API for that B server to connect. That involves a custom work by you. Now I uderstand this situation.

Secondly, I Assume even if the hosting provider is same than the webhosting + file hosting must be in same VPS (hosting account). This means we can not get the different plans of website hosting and Cloud file hosting by the same provider to run the dropfile extension. This is same issue of custom API. Is it right?

1. yes you need to develop something custom or you can also use the remote file download feature:

2. Yes indeed Dropfiles to a database like Joomla and files will be stored on the very same server by default.

I understand. One last question please.

If the file link is known to anyone other than user assigned for that file, will the file accessible to that unknown person or user permission will allow to download the file?

The file or the category can be accessible by anyone only if the status is set to: "public". If the file or the category has a restriction access, like accessible only for a user or a group, the download link won't work.
