Hello,

Is there are any option now or at near updates which can protect media files from direct grabbing (get images not from site own pages)?

For example...
Default WP media path is too primitive: http://www.domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021-08/Ferrari-Testarossa-1985-01.jpg
With "Physical folders" path can be make much more correct as: http://www.domain.com/wp-content/Ferrari/Testarossa/1985/01.jpg
(And thanks for your "folders sync options" - it's awesome!)

But all medias at both those paths can be easily grabbed by special software.
Thus for media protection from auto-grabbed or using at other websites the frontend URL's must be generated randomly like:
http://www.domain.com/092h3in3eoeihef[bjpf32th4u3brip4hjrk.jpg

Maybe even with additional protections as short time of such URL's working (for example 1hr or 1day), generate a different protection URL's for different IP ranges, etc.

But for search engines bots SEO keep the direct media paths.

Thus users can find medias of my site at Google, but on click on them - will be redirected to the main or post page.

Have you plans for anything like this?

Hi,

This would be useful in a few cases. I'll add it to our feature request list and keep that in mind for a future release.

Thanks a lot!

And about file protection, we sell the WP File Download plugin which is much more appropriate tool. It allows to secure files with .htaccess and renaming, select granular permisions etc...

This is the opposite situation - when admin DON'T WANT to give any download possibilities and want to even BLOCK any easy access to media!

PS Suppose such "URL protection" function will be actual for both your plugins.
