Hi,

I have some pre-sale questions. I have a client who has a cleaning and property maintenance company. He wants to achieve the following:

1. Be able to easily upload maintenance images, documents and videos through the backend

2. Allow each client to view only their folders and files

3. Each client may have a few employees (i.e. a group) who would need to access the same categories

4. I don't yet understand how users actually "sign-in/access" their files on the frontend - whether it's through a password or URL. This point is important. How does each user access thier files on the front end.

5. Is it possible to password protect categories on the front end or can the same thing be achieved through a membership plugin? If so, what memebership plugins does yours work with?

Thanks for your help.

Kindest regards,

Mark

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us here about this extension.

Maybe, you are mention to WP File download, so I moved this ticket to the right category.
And let me try to answer your question in order.

1. Yes, it's possible to set a user group to access the backend. Please go here for more details:

https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/wp-file-download-documentation#toc-file-management

2. Yes, that's possible for both backend and frontend.

3. You can use "User Roles" for this purpose. Please go the above link.

4. Once logged in, users can view the categories / files on frontend following their permission.
They can not view files if the categories / files are set private.

5. The "password protection" feature will be released on version 5.1.
Then you can set a password for files or categories.

Hope it helps!

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Just a few quick follow up questions:

1. Can we have multiple users each assigned their own category? For example, owner of building A can only see photos of building A and owner of building B can only see photos of building B. Could you please provide a link to instrucitons?

2. Regarding loggin in, how do clients actually log in to the file manager to view their files? For example, can we insert a login link on the website or do they have to login through the wordpress /wp-admin login?

3. Do I need a membership plugin to enable users to login to the file manager through the website?

Thanks again for all your helpl and have a great day :)

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me with more information.

1. Can we have multiple users each assigned their own category? For example, owner of building A can only see photos of building A and owner of building B can only see photos of building B. Could you please provide a link to instrucitons?

It's not possible to assign multi users in a category now, but you can put these users in a group.
And then set the visibility of a category for this user group. For more information:
https://www.joomunited.com/documentation/wp-file-download-documentation#toc-file-access-visibility

2. Regarding loggin in, how do clients actually log in to the file manager to view their files? For example, can we insert a login link on the website or do they have to login through the wordpress /wp-admin login?

Users should login first through WP login, then they can view files on frontend or access the backend.

3. Do I need a membership plugin to enable users to login to the file manager through the website?

We are based on WP user role. It only needs when you want to create more roles.

Hope it helps!
Cheers,
