Dropfiles looks fantastic, but I do have a few questions:

UPLOAD FORM: We have a large group of lawyers who need to upload and share briefs. There are about 20 categories of briefs. Can the front-end upload form allow the lawyer to choose the category they are uploading to from, say, a dropdown list? Are there also file description fields available in the upload form to write a potentially lengthy description of the uploaded brief? Can that description be edited later by the uploader?

VIEW UPLOADS BY CATEGORY: Once they're uploaded, it looks like it'd be fairly easy to create a page in the front end where a lawyer could choose a category (from something like a dropdown list) and browse uploaded briefs/descriptions?

REFERENCE FILES IN AN ARTICLE: If we want to link to files in an article, is that just a matter of entering the correct URL, or is there a simple way to browse for the correct file when editing an article, like a button in JCE?

LEGACY "ATTACHMENTS" JOOMLA EXTENSION: This is probably pretty hard, but we've been using an extension to associate files with an article called "Attachments" by Jim Cameron. It will not be available in Joomla 4. Because of that, migration will take a while. Have you heard of it and could there be an automated way to associate the Joomla 3 file-connected-to-an-article feature in that old extension with Dropfiles? I'm pretty much just hoping to luck out on this question.

Thanks ... these extensions are all beautiful work!

Hi,

A lot of questions :) Let me answer the best I can.

UPLOAD FORM: The upload form is something pre-configured with a preselected category, this is, in fact, a simple upload area.
On the other hand, you can use the component access and give to your lawyers the access you want including file upload and title and description edition.

VIEW UPLOADS BY CATEGORY: Absolutely, you can insert any file category, subcategories where you want. There's an editor button for that

REFERENCE FILES IN AN ARTICLE: You can do both, use the editor button to insert a file or copy a direct file link

LEGACY "ATTACHMENTS" JOOMLA EXTENSION: No luck on this one :) I know attachment extension and indeed that was a popular one back in time. The problem is that it works in a very different way, more like a custom field.
