Can you point a role to an ftp server where I can just drop files in this folder via winscp and the user will view once logged in?

Hi,

You can't add files directly in WP File download from FTP but you have an importer for that.
You can:
- Upload files on your server using FTP
- With the importer you can crawl for ftp folders and import files
