It would be great if the plugin provided a URL to access the file via direct link. Right now I have 2 options: Download or Preview. But at times I just want to open the file directly in a browser. At the moment I use the Preview URL but I don't always want to open it in the Google Doc previewer.

For instance, if I upload a file called "2017 Brochure.pdf", give me a URL to get to it like: http://domain.com/file/2017-Brochure.pdf

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for adding your feature request here. We’ll keep that in mind for a future release!

I am also interested in this feature... I suppose I can just add {{linkdownload}} somewhere in the file info, but I would prefer if it was an option in the plugin, so I can ensure compatibility in newer updates.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
Could you explain more details about adding shortcode {linkdownload} to the file info? (It's a better example if it includes images or link).

Thanks a lot!

I don't want my request to be confused with this new information. I'm just looking for a clean file URL to directly access the original document. That way I can email someone a URL like:

http://domain.com/file/2017-Brochure.pdf

instead of...

https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdomain.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fadmin-ajax.php%3Fjuwpfisadmin%3Dfalse%26action%3Dwpfd%26task%3Dfile.download%26wpfd_category_id%3D43%26wpfd_file_id%3D2082%26token%3D2da918bf8ce58d531434f2575013c3bc%26preview%3D1&embedded=true

or instead of...

https://domain.com/download/43/downloads/2082/2017-Brochure.pdf

which downloads the file instead of viewing it in the browser.

It doesn't even have to be seen on the front end. Just let me click on the file in the back end and have a field on the right that says "File URL" like anything in the Media Gallery.

Hi,

I got your point.
In backend, you will get a link of a file. We are working on it for the next version 4.2 (we are currently in version 4.1.7)

Thanks a lot!

That's awesome. My client loves this plugin and will be thrilled with this new feature.

I see the new feature has been added, and I thank you for that. However, it isn't exactly what I was requesting. I'm able to pull that link from the download button. What I was looking for was a link to the file that doesn't immediately prompt a download. I'm looking for the source URL to the file so it can display within the browser.

Hi burlingtonpress,

Thanks for your response.
I'm looking for the source URL to the file so it can display within the browser.

We will consider about that for future release.

Cheers,
