Categories as a search parameter

Hello!
I've been checking your extension and I'm really interested in using it for my website. I need to create about 100 different locations divided in 4 main categories (sales office, manufacturing plant, service center and distributor). A location should be able to be classified in one or more of the categories and I want the search to be defined by these categories + location of the user.

For what I've seen I can categorize my locations, but is it possible to make the categories the main search parameter and to give a location two categories?
