Gutenberg is the new editor (almost) ready to be shipped with WordPress 5.0, around April 2018. To this end, we've decided to start working on a new free plugin called Advanced Gutenberg. The main purpose is to accelerate the job of website creation for gutenberg early adopters.
Gutenberg Advanced comes over Gutenberg editor with new features: Profile editon and lightbox on galleries. Only 2 features? Of course we will implement a lot of other new features in the upcoming versions such as a layout manager, a custom CSS styles, advanced table editor... So let’s dive in!
WordPress ships with some editor user roles, such as the Administrator and Editor roles. However, Advanced Gutenberg goes a step farther with its own editor profile management system, allowing you to activate or disable certain edition tools for custom user or user groups.
Profile management is available from the menu Gutenberg > Profiles. Profiles can be created, removed or edited right from this page, and provide 3 feature levels:
1st level, the profile management: Add/Edit/Remove profiles
2nd level, the profile attribution: Define which user or user group will have access this edition profile
3rd level: define the edition tools available in the profile. Just click on it to activate disable the tool.
The other feature implemented is the gallery lightbox feature. From the plugin settings, you can activate lightbox on gallery images along with Alt text as caption and navigation between images.
Here we are! hope you'll enjoy the plugin and stay tuned for new versions :)
